In 1999 the Lausitzer FEM symposium was accomplished
for the first time at the FH Lausitz. Since then it
has become a firm date in the meeting calendar of
The main goal of the symposium is to create a link(age)
between the FH Lausitz and the professional practice
in the area of the Finite Elements Method (FEM) and
to present the broad area of activities of civil engineers
educated in Cottbus to an interested public. They
do not only compute buildings but for example also
cars, implants or cranes.
In 2002 the BTU Cottbus joined the FEM symposium
and thereby the first successful co-operation of the
two Cottbuser universities in the area of civil engineering
Since 1999 the meeting has registered constantly increasing
numbers of participants and has been very well received
particularly among students and industrial representatives.
